2. Title of Project : Exploring the concept of Satisfaction Profile
Project Leader : Dr. A. L. Lavalekar
Abstract : Satisfaction is a fluid concept. It is relative and depends on individual's attitude towards life. Satisfaction can be experienced in a number of ways and in different fields of life. This research attempts to explore the concept of satisfaction in a layman's mind and also aims at finding out a profile of this person's satisfaction in various fields of life in terms of frequency and intensity of experiences. The proposed sample is two hundred (N=200) lay persons, both men and women of various SES between age 40 to 55 years.
6. Title of Project : Exploration into Women Leadership
Project Leader : Dr. Vanita Patwardhan
Abstract : The study aims at investigating personality traits of Indian women leaders from various fields and at state, national and international levels.California Personality Inventory, Leadership Checklist and Social Intelligence tests administered to 50 Women leaders. Data collection and analysis is in process. The findings will be discussed in the light of personality trait profile of Indian women leaders as well as enhancement of leadership
11. Title of Project : Evolving a comprehensive Child Development Programme
Project Leader : Dr. Usha Khire
Abstract : The project aims at developing a curriculum for wholesome development of children of the age 6 years to 12 years. The curriculum covers intellectual, emotional and social development through game like activities. Various games have been designed for different factors of intelligence. The methodology emphasizes facilitative environment and liberating psychological energy of children for self-development.
3. Title of Project : Single child family survey
Project Leader : Dr. Vanita Patwardhan
Abstract : A survey of about 75 families is conducted. The families are from Pune city, India with a middle class socio-economic status. The single children in the families are in VIII grade. Interviews with the children and their parents at their homes helped in collecting information about SES of families, parents' career, reasons for having single offspring, as well as child's educational progress, self concept and adjustment. The data is to be analyzed.
8.Title of Project : Effect of School Climate on the Development of Gifted and Average Students : A Longitudinal Study.
Project Leader : Sucharita Gadre
Abstracts : A cross-sectional study of the students studying in different schools in V,VIII, and X std. was done. They will be followed up for the longitudinal study. The students will again be tested for different abilities, adjustment and other personality factors. Purpose is to see how far the results in cross-sectional study tally with the results in longitudinal study. Separate guidance reports based upon the overall profile of the student will be provided to the student involved in the project.
13. Title of Project : Indian Child intelligence Test Re-standardization in Tamil
Project Leader : Dr. Usha Khire, Dr. Damodaran, Dr. Rene Hoksbergen, Dr. Bleichrodt.
Abstract : The project was conducted in Chennai and was coordinated by ICCW (TN). Project direction, statistical analysis, training, and all essential research inputs were given from JPSS. The Indian Child Intelligence Test which was initially adapted and standardized for Marathi was restandardised for Tamil speaking children of age 4 years to 12 years. Norms are established. Cultural differences in norms are noticeable.
4. Title of Project : Medha Vruddhi - A Pilot Study (in collaboration with Rigved Foundation - Mumbai)
Project Leader : Dr. Vanita Patwardhan, Dr. V.V. Satpurkar
Abstract : The objective is to assess the effect of Medha - sukta on 8-year old children - especially the effect on intelligence. Sample the effect on intelligence. Sample will consist of 100 boys and girls of 8-year age, in a school from Mumbai. Intelligence tests will be administered. The results will reveal sex-wise and intelligence-level wise differential effect of Medha sukta.
9.Title of Project : Follow-up of the intellectually gifted. Conducted in 3 parts :
Project Leader : Sujala Watve
Abstract : Each year students from Jnana Prabodhini Prashala(JPP) are given guidance after passing X. This is based on tests administered in V,VII, and X. The longitudinal study of these students through V to X revealed that factors needed for logical thinking, and creativity fostered more in this school. Also the subjects containing symbolic contents are likely to benefit more. When compared with average students, gifted were found to be qualitatively different and benefited more in enriched school environment.
14. Title of Project : Indian Child Intelligence Test - Norms for the age 4 years to 5 years.
Project Leader : Dr. Usha Khire, Dr. Rene Hoksbergen, Dr. Nico Bleichrodt.
Abstract : The Indian Child Intelligence Test (ICIT) was adapted from RAKIT - a Dutch test for age groups ^ years to 12 years. In the period of report, the test was further adapted and standardized for the lower age groups 4 years to 5 years.
5. Title of Project : Developing Leadership Questionnaire
Project Leader : Dr. Vanita Patwardhan
Abstract : There is an intense need to assess leadership traits of students as well as personnel from industries. For this purpose two versions namely, 'Tumchya Vishayi Thodese' and 'About Yourself' are developed. They are administered to about 100 students and 700 employees in various organizations. Data analysis and preparation of normative tables are in progress.
10. Title of Project : Child development project for socially disadvantaged.
Project Leader : Dr. Swarnalata Bhishikar
Abstract : The main objective of this project is to provide supplementary life education to socially disadvantaged children in slum and under developed areas from Solapur city to make them self-confident and self-sufficient.
The development of thinking skills and personality traits is being observed and assessment through teacher-made scales.
15. Title of Project : Validation of 'Shishu Prajna' scale of intelligence
Project Leader : Dr. Usha Khire
Abstract : A scale for measuring mental ability of children of the age 2 years to 5 years was prepared earlier and was being used in schools for assessing children's mental ability. The ratings of the scale were correlated with scholastic performance 2 to 5 years after the testing. The correlations were mostly highly significant, indicating the predictive validity of the scale
1. Title of Project : Training in Social Awareness ( Replicatory Study)
Project Leader : Dr. A. L . Lavalekar
Abstract : This study aims at replicating the training programme for development of social awareness (awareness of social problems) for different student populations (specially the college going undergraduate girls). This research is being undertaken to verify the reliability of the training programme and to find out the necessary modifications required for different groups with respect to sex, age, socio-economic status, etc. The main emphasis is on conducting discussion sessions for a period of one academic year. The N is around 250 in which major percentage is female. Efforts are being made to maintain the uniformity and consistency of training sessions for different groups.
Certain psychological instruments will be used to assess the effect of training. The findings will lead to specified and modified training modules.
.12. Title of Project : Developing a Computerized Aptitude Battery - I AM
Project Leader : Dr. Usha Khire
Abstract : Twenty one appropriate tests from Guilford's SOI model were chosen for measuring aptitudes of Std. X plus students. Three questionnaires measuring orientations, inclinations and thinking styles were also added in the battery. The whole battery was computerized and administered to 450 students from std. X to std XII.
Test records of 200 students (std X - 142 , std XII - 58) during a specific period assuring homogeneity of the sample were used for statistical analysis to find the redundant tests. The battery was reduced to 17 tests and one questionnaire giving six orientations. The differences between students from std. X and std. XII were studied on these tests. They were not statistically significant.
The battery yields 8 Ability scores and 6 orientation scores, and the product is put to use in educational and vocational guidance.
7.Title of Project : Effect of School Climate on the Development of Gifted and Average Students : A Cross Sectional Study.
Project Leader : Dr. Usha Khire
Abstract : The students studying in V,VIII, and X std from three different types of school environments, namely segregated gifted, enriched environment (I) and, non - segregated school with enriched environment(II), and non- segregated school with non - enriched environment(III), were studied to find the differences in their personalities. Data was employed to see the group-wise differences in gifted and average students in different environments.
In case of cognitive abilities, gifted students segregated in enriched environment perform the best.
Adjustment scores of the students in (II) category, surpass the scores of similar groups in (I) & (II) category schools. Scores of study habits suggest that even at grade V level gifted students in (I) school have developed better insight into good study habits as compared to the other groups at the same level.
